About

We are Tracy and Kel, two friends who used to live near each other but now live on opposite sides of the Mississippi.  We miss each other.  We are also two home schooling mothers who take care of kids, husbands, houses, and pets 24/7.  We struggle with food allergies, losing weight, exercising, sassy teenagers, and figuring out “what the HECK are we supposed to cook for dinner now that it is 6:00 in the evening?!”

We also struggle with doing the one, special, just for our own selves, thing that brings us a passion for life…for Tracy it’s writing, for Kelly it’s painting.  So in the dual interest of

  1. actually doing the things we love to do and,
  2. to give an even greater reason to spend even more time on the phone and e-mail with each other,

we started The Dao of Doing.

After reading beautiful books, having countless conversations, and subscribing to many blogs, we realized that our dreams were um…not coming true.  In a blinding flash of wisdom during a particularly low point in life, it occurred to us that we might actually have to DO SOMETHING to make them come true!  While we do love being mothers we think we may have given away more than just our careers when we decided to stay at home with our children.  We unwittingly gave up some of our dreams as well.

Doing what you love to do sounds pretty simple, but we have found that simple and easy are not the same thing.  We uncovered a lot of old false beliefs, fear, unproductive habits, and, sadly, a dash of self sabotage on our personal path of doing what we love everyday. However, we also uncovered far more creative potential than we dreamed, and found that through naming our priorities we really did have the ability to work on our dreams now.

We believe that committing to doing something you love to do is an important key to loving yourself and finding balance in our hectic lives.

Is there something you think about doing but put off?  What if you could do something you love right now, instead of waiting until the kids get older, you pay off debt, lose some weight … until that perfect someday comes along?  Join us on the path of trusting ourselves and creating a more balanced life by including doing something you love to do everyday!
