Don’t Do it Alone, Invite a Friend!

What if self-care was a key to being more creative? We’re doing the activities in BJ Gallagher’s Why Don’t I Do the Things I Know are Good For Me? to find the answers. This post is written by Kel.

Personal Change Tip #5: Stick with the winners, surround yourself with the right people.

Changing your life to include something you love to do is hard work.

I know, I’ve been doing just that for the past year.

There were lots of years before this past one that I had told myself I would paint and I didn’t do it.  This time I was going to put my efforts out there for everyone to see on a blog…and I invited a friend to “Do” with me.  I surrounded myself with the right people.

These two things, sharing my journey online and having a friend by my side, have made all the difference.

  • It held me accountable.
  • I was inspired by readers who were doing along with us.
  • I had a blast being creative again with both writing and painting.
  • Tracy and I became closer even though she had moved far away.

When I conceived the Dao of Doing I wanted this to be a place of community and inspiration: a place where we could come together and support each other in doing what we love to do.

In just 2 weeks we will start our second year and we are committed to doing with more clarity, focus, and creativity. Tracy and I are both committing to breaking through our own personal barriers this next year so we can do even more of what we love to do.

We are looking for passionate people who are committed to doing what they love to do.   Won’t you join us in the challenge?  How about asking a friend to join you in “doing” this next year?

I think we can all do what we love to do if we commit to doing it together.

I know you are right. And I know having you and Tracy coming into in inbox five days a week has made a big impact on me and given me permission to do more of what I love to do, too.

I’m so glad you are planning to be around for year two!
